All about the stockies
Stockies have been Flat out busy of late. Racin week in, week out all over Vic and SA. Locals have been contesting the MJS series in SA, with Big D, Fauxtrain and Rude Callaway competing all rounds with cameos from Jabba, and Easty. 1st round at the bridge, had 3 locals in the main event, after comin from the B. In the heats Jabba had good mid field runs while Easty gained plenty of experience and loved the joint. In the `A` Fauxy from the back wheeled around the field then up the inside of 2nd and tore a banger of the back. Rude was up to 6th when he popped out another gasket. Big D, although goin with the wrong set-up, was flying. Made his way towards the front, when he also got a flat and parked his ride up with the boys on the infield.
Then it was off to Bordertown for the next round, Rude popped out another gasket in the 1st heat while flyin. Shattered. Big D after some ordinary heat racin , finally got his ride sorted for the B. Coming off the back he was quickly up to the front using the fence to keep him on the track, while adopted local Nath Dog was havin trouble with the wild conditions and lost it on the last lap to wipe out Big Bue who then ended his brothers night by slamming him. Big D snuck through for the final transfer. The final was one to be remembered, for the crowd with multiple crashes. The fauxtrain starting from 13 in the main was quick to jump up the highside and make his way to a Victory, blowing his contenders. Big D after havin the boys, mainly sword pilot and druz fix the pig, was up to 6th when he pulled in after too much punting earlier on to get the transfer spot which caused some front end damage. Party went all night with the South Aussie boys.
Big D rolled his rig out the following week down at Premier, and had some mint as racin, apart from the first couple laps in the first heat where he gave plenty of work for the professional outfit back in the pits to do. From there a couple front runs and he was straight into the main event. Quickly goin to the top where he moved forward before throwing a hook belt. He hung on to his ride to the end of the feature finishing just out of the top 10.
Few of the boys trailered off down to Swan Hill with some good results. Rude after smashing a box out, borrowed another from Aus 1 and finished a very competitive 2nd. Silvia come home with a fifth, after running the pointy end all night. Which proved that if he travels he can run with the best, and is looking forward to the $1000 to win at Blue Ribbon Raceway.
Jabba after some engine trouble. While fixing it, Drewzy smashed the crank sensor off it which ended his night. Easty come of age down there and was not afraid of putting some flat red and black paint on the opposition. He finished all his heats and the main event in the top 10. Span had one of those nights, although speed was not an issue, keeping the car straight was. Ronnie worked off his head to get the chariot going and span was on a mission until the Black FLAG ended his night premature. Although he said after “I always end my night premature, but like always was happy to be going hard when it ended”
Waikerie was the stop for the 1st shin dig of the year, with Big D, Easty and Nath Dog running. D was on fire with a heat win and and running up the front of the final until a minor mister meaner on the last lap had him facing the wrong way and to the back of the bus. Easty took his Swan Hill form into the heats and was quick to become buddies with the locals. Unfortunately over heating put an end to his night. Nath dog pulled a placing in the heats and finished in the top 10 in the main event.
MJS was back on the cards the following night at Renmark and after leading both his heats, Fauxy had engine troubles and dropped back through the field. After also leading the B the drama`s continued and he pulled out. Rude in his first heat had a leaking rack but managed to finish up the field and after the boys rallied together to get another rack in the ride he finished 3rd in his 2nd heat. Jabba found the tight track a little difficult and got to see what everyone meant when they said “the pit wall jumps out at you”. Lap traffic also appeared to be an issue for the red rocket and thanks to old man beu was allowed to start of the back of the bus in the b. Easty was leading his first heat and looked to have a hold of his bus when it shot of the oil sender, putting him on the trailer for the night. Big D again was fast but moved up high and lost some ground in the heats putting him mid pack in the b. D was leading the B but spun when a car went up the inside. On the restart the big boy went the high line and this time it paid off giving him the first transfer into the A. Big nath was showing good form and managed to grab the final transfer spot. Big D was honkin when an out of control car collected him and his car was done for the night. As the sword pilot would say, “That’s a sad panda”. Rude managed to finished 6th and seemed to have his thing sorted.
The boys bumped on down the highway for the S.A title at the mount. In hot laps fauxy’s thing seemed to be hooked up and was looking like one to beat but in his first heat only managed to 5 laps before pulling infield with some more engine dramas. Not again. Big D was also looking good in that heat but was losing power when the falcon got hot, finishing the race hurt the engine which also seen him on the trailer and the cans. Rude was on fire with a dominating performance in his first heat to take the win, was looking good in the 2nd but after helping helgy in the wall was shown the black and ended on the infield. He managed to get it together and have a 2nd in the 3rd putting him in the a. Span had his XF hooked up and passed some diggers with two solid top 5’s. This was not the case in his 3rd heat which seen him spin a numerous amount of times and looked to spend more time
racing on the infield then the track. After fauxy and big d done a major front end rebuild and got him ready for the b span was ready to go. Span starting out of 4 needed to gain 2 spots to get into the a. Things weren’t looking good until hilly went for a wild ride putting him to the back of the freight train. This saw span with his tidy driving take a transfer into the big show. His thing was a bullet at the start and managed to blow by rude who started mid pack and was looking for his first sash. As the race went on rude gained momentum and moved forward not to be outdone by the b main starter. He picked off the field one by one and managed to pass span with the boys finishing 6th and 7th respectively.
The 16th of Jan and she was back home for a run at Milly. With 18 cars slapping round it was sure to be a mad dog final. Heat wins were Spread out between Big D, Helgy, then Helgy pulled another win, with the Fauxtrain taken the final heat in Nath Dogs pig. The event saw the comeback of Druz. The comeback was short lived after too much slappin the wall broke the Engine mount, Radiator hoses, and Hook, which had the chin load it up. The racing was very fast with passing going on all over the track, and the infield. Easty took racing the highline to another extreme when he put rubber right to the top of the fence. The final Had 4 different leaders with the Helgy cutting down a tyre on the first lap, Big D then took the lead before Silvia took the front running and left the field in his dust until spinning. Luckily the Speedway God (Big Ray) was on his side and he got his spot back. He once again checked out until rolling it out for a stand on off turn 4 and going back to last. Big D was once again the leader, until the Swan Hill gun, Carmichael took over the running, but quickly lost it at the same position as Silvia. This handed Big D the lead which he held on to for his first feature win.
