Woodstock, Telstra, World Series Sprintcars. It sort of has a ring to it doesn’t it. A partnership that gelled so well in Mildura on January 7 for round 15 of the Proton WSS. If I wasn’t so damned busy running around in circles it would have been a perfect weekend for me. I love my sprintcars, I love my solo’s and I love a good street party. Yep we had it all, we even did a cruise up the river on our houseboat, on Friday with the Woodstock guys and a few Carlsberg’s and again on the Sunday with the WSS crew, pulling into Gol Gol Hotel for a counter lunch and generally kicking back. Weeks of stress and worry left in just a few hours cruising up the Murray River. We all agreed that we have to do it again next year. Sunday evening we pulled up at Olympic Park Speedway Mildura for round two of the Australian Solo Title in the houseboat twenty metres from the pits, can you believe that? The river is that close. No issues getting out of a crowded car park here.

A Waste Wise Success Story
Paul Timmis posted Thursday December 8, 2005.
Mildura’s Timmis Speedway December 3rd meeting was a success on many levels. Apart from the great nights racing and big crowd it was also our first attempt at being a waste wise event. Truth be known we were under the pump and the advertising and hype which was to compliment the launch of the waste programme just didn’t happen so it was all the more amazing that it was such a huge success. Basically all we did was to place recycle and rubbish bins side by side around the speedway and you the general public did the rest. It is part of the waste wise programme that after the event an audit is to take place including checking the recycle bins for contamination such as food scraps plastic bags etc. The results were astounding. Zero contamination and 33% of the nights rubbish was diverted from the landfill and was successfully recycled.

Well Done Timmis Speedway
Paul Timmis posted Thursday December 8, 2005.
Congratulations Timmis Speedway and Shannon Dowdy in particular who reluctantly put her name to this meeting. It was just a great night’s entertainment. From the officials to the caterers through to the drivers and crews. The commentary team was second to none. For fifteen bucks I challenge anyone to find better value for money. It’s so easy top get caught up in our own hype that it sometimes clouds our judgement but credit where credit is due, that was a speedway meeting that just worked and worked well. “Sheep station” racing with lot’s of fun in the club rooms afterwards and plenty of give aways thanks to Woodstock and the social club who between them gave away three slabs of Woodstock, $50.00 and a bbq feed to the hungry. From one of your harshest critics WELL DONE.

Transponders $375 (but Wait There’s More)
Paul Timmis posted Monday October 10, 2005.
That’s right you can purchase a tranX260 rechargeable transponder and the tranX260 hard wired version for $375 and $332 respectively plus p&h, unbelievable I know but wait there’s more, if you buy within the next 10 days you get a free set of steak knives....... (now I am lying). The transponder deal is fair dinkum but the steak knives welllll I got carried away a bit, ahhh no knives but what a deal, Don’t bother looking around you won’t find a better price anywhere in Australia for transponders. They usually retail well over $500 each. This deal is only valid for the first 100 units sold or for 12 months which ever is first. The units have a two year warranty and a three year guaranteed buy back scheme in place, simply put you can return your transponder within 12 months and it will be bought back at 75% of it’s original purchase price if less than 12 months old and 50% for less than two years and 25% for less than three years. Do you get the feeling some one want’s you to get a transponder?

Speedway Promoter Makes Huge Profit
Paul Timmis posted Tuesday September 27, 2005.
A headline that should give all promoters a good belly laugh. Contrary to popular belief a promoter usually isn’t a business man who can see a pot of gold in this speedway deal but some one like you and me, a speedway fan who has vision and can see how to improve on things or in some case even save a dying series or track and have the necessary male anatomy and a similar size wallet to have a go. This quickly becomes a full time job requiring money to support his now obviously bad decision to become a promoter. If he takes his travelling circus to your town, then here is an insight into what is involved.

Mildura Motorsports Mad

Some places are famous for different reasons such as Calgary Alberta Canada which is famous for the Calgary Stampede and producing an extraordinary amount of world class rodeo champions, then there is San Francisco USA which is famous for it’s huge gay and lesbian community. Possibly through opportunity do these things evolve, I’m not sure but all I can say is how lucky I am to live in such a motorsports mad city as Mildura.
